The Life of HOKUSAI

“The Great Wave”, the representative work of Japanese genius Katsushika Hokusai, has the same recognition as Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa. Aside from Edison and Einstein, he is the only Japanese person selected by LIFE magazine as one of the “100 most important people in the last 1000 years.

His family, who supported him behind the scenes, played no part in his life, as Hokusai regarded himself as an incarnation of the dragon, and spent his days drawing as if possessed. An event, however, sparked a major change in Hokusai’s thinking. The unknown half of Katsushika Hokusai’s life filled with love and anguish is depicted in his paintings.

The Life of HOKUASAI was produced by Rim Entertainment. Live performance and cutting-edge digital projection live are combined with the theme of painting maniac “Hokusai” in this new performing art work. We are considering performing this work overseas (North America and Europe). Please let us know if you would like to schedule a performance of this work.
