Produced in commemoration of the 260th anniversary of the birth of Katsushika Hokusai, this stage art piece has been transformed into a visual work. A ambitious creation that combines traditional Japanese musical instruments, projection mapping, dance, and is entirely non-verbal.
This 2020 performing arts documentary celebrates the 260th anniversary of the birth of Katsushika Hokusai. It follows the trials and setbacks of Katsumi Sakakura, director and lead performer, and his entourage as they attempt to embody the life of Hokusai. Along the way, Sakakura taps in to Hokusai's spirit by uncovering hidden messages in the artist's work which leads to strange new emotions.
There are around 500 letters delivered to “The Drifting Post”. All of them written by people who have lost an important person in the disaster and are still seeking to be healed. It is thought that writing these letters can ease people’s sorrow and help them to face their future. Directed by Kento Shimizu.
In Japan, the fading memories of the Meiji, Taisho, Showa, and Heisei eras are at risk of being lost to time. To keep this historical flame alive, we are launching a project that aims to preserve these eras' records, memories, culture, and sentiments in documentary form, enhanced with cutting-edge technology like 3D VR, and pass them on to the Reiwa era.
